Bloom Series · From the Radiance triptych

A single dark bloom holds perfectly still against a field of blush and cream, and that contrast became the starting point for Radiance I. I wanted the bloom to feel suspended within the softer surface, strong but quiet, almost as though it had paused there for a moment. I built the background through layers of colour and texture, allowing traces of what came before to remain visible rather than smoothing everything away. I was interested in how something dark could create calm rather than heaviness, and how restraint can sometimes hold more presence than noise. I want the viewer to notice the simplicity of the bloom first, then gradually discover the shifts, marks and imperfections around it. For me, the work is about quiet confidence and the beauty of something that does not need to compete for attention. At this scale she holds a large wall beautifully on her own, especially against warm neutrals, pale plaster or soft timber.

Original acrylic and mixed media on canvas, signed R Solsky, with a certificate of authenticity. Hang away from direct sunlight and damp, and dust gently with a soft dry cloth.

Collect from my studio in Newport

Simply choose the PICKUP tab at checkout to collect from my Newport studio. This lets me know you do not need my help with freight or an installation supplier. There is no charge for this option. I will contact you to arrange the day, time and exact location that best suits you.
