I was interested in how something dark could create calm rather than heaviness, and how restraint can sometimes hold more presence than noise. I want the viewer to notice the simplicity of the bloom first, then gradually discover the shifts, marks and imperfections around it. For me, the work is about quiet confidence and the beauty of something that does not need to compete for attention.
